Butterfly is an insert. It has four legs. It has no bones. Butterfly has the teeth. It has two pairs of wings. The wings of the butterfly are very beautiful. There are eyes all over the wings. Butterfly is a harmless animal. It collects nectar from flowers that are this food. Butterflies are molly coloured.They look like flowers. Butterflies are becoming less and lessen number every yesr.They are extinction insects. We must protect those harmless beautiful butterflies. Moths are after mistaken to be butterflies.

        We went to kandy perahera in last august. It was very beautiful. There were so many people. There were many foreigners, too. the whip crackers led the peripheral. There were drummers, flag bearers , kandian dancers. Nilame and elephants. The Malaga elephants came with the casket on it’ s back. The kandyan dancer and the Malaga elephants were very colourful.

     Sri lankahas been famous gemstones fromthe earliest times.It is an important export trade today.Many areas in the sabaragamuwa province are well known for gems.Rathnapura is the most important region for gems. Rathnapura means the ”city of gems”.It has gem museums displaying the wide.range of gems,available inthe country.The Blue sapphirre is the king of sri lankan gems.The 400carat blue sapphire called.The ‘Blue bell” which adorns the british crown is from sri lanka.Rubies,cat’s eyes,alexandrites,aquamarines,tourmalines,spinals,topazes,garn ets and amethysts are some of the precious stones found in sri lanka.The cutting of gems is a specialized job.gems are cut and polished before they are set.Different regions inthe country have different ways of making jewellery.gems are generally worn for their beauty.people also believe that gems have the power to bring luck.The ca rft was handed down from father to son.Now women too work in the gem trade.

 Madduma bandara is the name of one of our national heroes. he is a child hero.he lived during the reign of sri wickrama rajasinghe. the last king of ceylon. his father was one of the king’s ministers. his name was ehelepola. ehelepola didn’t obey the king’s orders. he fled away and hid in a remote place. the king was very angry.he ordered that ehelepola’s family be killed. they were brought to bogambara by the king’s men. it was madduma bandara’s elder brother who had to face death first. but dared not to come forward. thus the name of madduma bandaraq was written in our history.

   Baseball  is   the   most  popular   sport   in  the  united  states   and   is   often  ca lled   its   national     pastime  .   it’s  a  game   played  with   a   hard  ball   and  bat   between  two   teams  of  nine  players  each.   the  play   starts  when  a   player   called  the   pitcher  from   one   team   throws  a  ball  towards   the   batter, a player on the   opposing   team .   if  the   batter  strikes  the  ball ,   he  runs  around  a  series  of  bases  before  a  player  in  the  field  can  put   him  out.   the  baseball  game   is   very  similar  to   a   popular  game   called  ‘ elle’  played  locally

T.B Jaya was born in Galagedara on 1^st January 1890.After his primary education, his family moved to Colombo in and he was admitted to St. Thomas College, Mt. Lavinia fro his Secondary Education. After passing the London Matriculation  Examination he became a teacher. While being teacher, he passed the London B. A. Examination.       T.B. Jaya began his teaching career at Dharmaraja College, Candy. Next he taught at Prince of Wales College, Mortuwa and later at Ananda College, Colombo. He was one of the founder members of Zahira College, Colombo. As a result of the requests of Muslim leaders he assumed duties as the principal of Zahira College, Colombo. There were only six teachers at the time. Through his devotion, dedication and selfless service, he was able to bring up Zahira College, to the level of other leading schools in the country. Many philanthropists helped him with the funds necessary, to develop the school in every aspect.       During the Second World War, T.B. Jaya established branches of Zahira College in Gampola, Matale, Aluthgama and Puttlam. After the war these schools developed on their own and became independent schools. Through his vision and efforts he served his community by opening new avenues for education.        In 1924, T.B. jaya was appointed to the Legislative Council to represent the minority communities. He worked in unison with the members’ who represented other communities. He worked in unison with the members who represented other communities. From 1936 to 1947, he served in the State Council. When Sri Lanka was given Dominion status he represented the Colombo Central Electorare. He was appointed the Minisiter of Labour and Social Service. He joined hands with other leaders in the sttuggle for Indepenbndence.  In 1950 he was appointed as the High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in Pakistan. He died in 1960, falling ill on a pilgrimage to Mecca, the holiest place for all Muslims. He is remembered by every Sri Lanka, specially for his contribution towards the struggle for independence and his service to education

 Everyone of us should have a hobby. Then  only we can spend our leisure in a useful manner.

                                                My hobby is gardening. It is an interesting hobby. It has many advantages. It have planted various kinds of fruits and vegetables in my graden. Some of the fruits are guava , pineapple , pomegranate , woodapple , orange and mango. Some of the vegetables are brinjai l, chillies,  beans, long beans, tomato, ladie’s fingers and wing beans.

                                                            I spend about one thurs in my grarden every morning. I pull out weeds. I water and manure the vegetable beds. I use compost manure. I don’t use artificial manure. It is a nicesight to see fruit trees laden with fruits. Birds and butterflies come to my garden. They make my garden beautiful.

                                                            My father, Mother too help me in my hobby. We can eat fresh fruits and vegetables because of my hobby. Also I can earn some money by selling them.

 The farmer is a poor man. But he is a very clever man. He wakes up early in the morning. After he washed his face, he goes to paddy field with his mammoty he works very hard he has no break. But he had a short  interval for his lunch he comes home very late.

                                                The farmer grows paddy, plants and vegetables. We eat rice, fruits and vegetable. So our hunger is overcome. The farmer lives in a small cottage his helpers are etti kukula and frog. They destroy the insects. He is a happy man and strong man.

We call the farmer is a King when he washes his mud.

 A man of exceptional achievement Did you know that sigiriya has deen declared a world heri tare ancl the 8thwonder of the world?     But for Prof .  Senarath Paranavithane, born over 100 years ago in a little known village called  Maetaramba in the Galle District we would not have still discovered the importance of  sigiriya fully. Prof. Senarath Paranavithane escaped belonging to the monolingual exclusive class, and became a true bilingual because he got a solid foundation in the oriental languages. This incul cated in him a love for country, an interest in ist hiory, and a disoipline which stood him in good stead wnen ne emda rked upon his career us a rchaelogical commissioner.
